Jesus said in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” In this life, you will have tribulation. You will have trouble. You can count on it.
Jesus didn’t tell us we would have trouble so that we could worry about it. He told us trouble was coming so that we “may have peace.” Jesus is closing out a section of Scripture that shares with us about the Holy Spirit. This Scripture tells about His role in every believer’s life.
In fact, Jesus shares in John 16:13–15, “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. “He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. “All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.”
Isn’t it great to know that whatever trouble comes, He will guide in how to respond through the Holy Spirit. God is so good to us. What kind of “trouble” or “tribulation” is in your life right now? You can trust God to guide you through it!
Not having any troubles right now? Praise Him for that! Jesus said we will all have troubles. It’s our response through the power of the Holy Spirit that will give us peace through the troubles of this life.
