We don’t like waiting. We want things to happen now. We live in an instantaneous society… every piece of information we could ever desire is at our fingertips. Almost anything we want we can pay someone to do it for us or do it faster. It’s hard not to expect that from God either.
But God’s not like that. God knows what’s best for us. When we are in relationship with God, we must wait for Him. Every time we choose to act on our own and not wait for God it is not God’s best for us. This hurts us when could could have just waited on God and had His best!
Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.” Waiting on the Lord is an important learned skill that comes from our faith in God growing. This verse hits me head on due to the repetition of “wait on the Lord”. God knows me and knows He sometimes had to repeat things to me for me to get it. How about you?
Psalm 27:14 also tells us to be strong as we are waiting on Him. I don’t think that’s in our own strength. I think we wait in the power and strength of the Lord. He is the only one that gives us the faith to trust Him even when we don’t see Him working.
What are you waiting on the Lord for right now? Is there a circumstance you want to do something right now but know God is telling you to wait? Trust Him. He will not let you down.
What do you think? When have you had to wait? How’d it work out? Share your thoughts in the comments.
