No one ministry can make or break you as quickly as your church’s nursery ministry. You only get one chance to make a positive impact on a guest bringing a child. From my experience, the nursery sometimes doesn’t get enough attention due to the flashier ministries of the church getting most of the time and money.
As a parent, I know the things I looked for in a nursery:
- Is it clean?
- Is it inviting?
- Are the people friendly?
- Do I trust the people I’m handing my kids off to?
- Do they run background checks of all workers?
- Are my kids safe?
- How will you contact me if there is a problem?
- What security procedures are in place?
- Who can pickup my kids?
When you ask these questions about your church nursery, are all the answers positive? If not, you have areas you need to work on.
A bad nursery experience will doom a guest to never return no matter how great the worship experience or preaching. How does your nursery stack up? What are some questions you ask when taking your child to a church nursery? Share your thoughts in the comments!.
