Is Our Strategy Important?

strategy1To accomplish anything in life, we need a strategy. When you build a house, you have a strategy (plans) for building the house. When you start a business, you have a strategy (business plan) for the startup. When you buy a house, you have a strategy to pay  it off.

When it comes to the local church, many don’t have any strategy to accomplish their mission. We just hope that we’re making a few disciples along the way. Isn’t our mission to make disciples the main thing? If so, shouldn’t we purposefully have a strategy to accomplish God’s mission?

I believe that God has gifted every local church to make disciples in their own unique way. But it doesn’t just happen by accident. Just as God gifts each local church, He also has a strategy to accomplish His mission. It will look different in each local church. But He does have a strategy for your local church.

God has been sharing with us at Central our strategy: Gather-Grow-Serve-Multiply. This is the disciples path at Central. We are to gather together in worship. We grow by being a part of a small group. We serve God through His body – the Church. And last we multiply through D-groups and mentoring.

We are just beginning our journey with this strategy. God has been preparing our hearts for this for a long time. God wants us to carry out our mission of making disciples who make disciples through our strategy.

How’s your local church doing at strategy? Could you tell me in a few sentences what your strategy is to make disciples in your local church? What do you think about strategy? Share your thoughts in the comments.
