I have a lot to be thankful for. I am thankful for those who died for our country in order to provide the freedom that we have. I am thankful for a close family. I am thankful for my wife’s new teaching position. I am thankful for a church family that I love. I am most thankful for my relationship with God who loves me, died, and rose again for me.
I’ve been spending a lot of times in Ephesians lately. As I was reading this morning, Ephesians 5:20 says, “always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father.” It’s easy to give thank for the good things. God does bless us with many good things. But this verse says we are to give thanks for “all things.”
It’s really easy to give thanks for the good things. God says for us to give thanks in all things. The only way we can do that is if we truly believe Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” If we actually believe that God causes everything to work together for good for us, then we can give thanks for even the painful things because we know that even those work out for our best.
What are you going through right now? Hard or easy, we can give thanks for it all because God is using it in our lives.
