Electophobia

2016 Election
Okay. I’ve come up with a new phobia. I see it out there everywhere. It’s becoming an epidemic. I’ve named it electophobia. Electophobia is fear about the outcome of the upcoming 2016 presidential elections.

I’ve been alive for many presidential campaigns. Every presidential primary season we know that the choice we make is very important – critical. But this year it’s different… people are screaming for change but there are so many different theories among the candidates, even within their own party, that are so far apart, that it is polarizing Americans with fear.

Christians seem to be just as fearful, or more, than everyone else. We have everything from socialism (that wouldn’t have garnered more than 1% of the vote a few years ago), to liberals, to brash trash talking pseudo-conservatives, to establishment candidates, to very conservative non-establishment candidates. From the far left to the far right, we’ve got it covered. It’s enough to make your head spin.

Christians, it’s time for us to Rise Up! and put off our electophobia. It’s time for us to hit out knees and vote for someone who espouses our values. It’s time for us to vote for ___________ (no, I’m not going to tell you who to vote for!). It’s time to get rid of the fear and trust God.

Isaiah 41:10 (NASB95)
10‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

God’s got this! He will accomplish His will. We need to voice our opinions and vote our values. Then we leave it in the Lord’s hands. By the way, it’s in His hands anyway! Don’t forget that.

Romans 13:1 (NASB95)
1Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.

Let’s remember, there is no authority except from God. Whoever we vote in, God is in charge, whether it is our candidate or not. God is in control. Fear not. No more electophobia for us.
